History

NHI, in Lebanon, New Hampshire originated the New Hampshire Industries name back in the early 1960’s, starting as a Splitball Bearing (now Timken Aerospace) spin off. Known as an idler pulley producer for nearly 30 years, NHI added drive pulleys in 1990 and spindles in 1998. To improve our customer service, we added a line of cast pulleys in 2001, giving us a more complete line-up of pulleys.

Our original bearing design started the company (our “A” series) in the moderate load and speed idler line. Idlers for higher loads and speeds are available (our “H” Series), as are machined drive pulleys, split-formed drive pulleys, cast and machined drive sheaves. The spindles produced are an example of products that use our manufacturing capabilities and are a logical extension of NHI products, often being used in conjunction with a pulley that we produce.

H. Neuman & Company joined NHI as part of the New Hampshire Industries, Inc. family in 1999. Founded in 1946 as a small machine shop in the Chicago area, Henry Neuman and his family owned the company until 1986, focusing more and more on precision machining needs. Purchasing the company in 1986, the new owners tightened the focus even farther, concentrating on products requiring turning, machining and hobbing – with synchronous timing pulleys becoming the main product. Even before its purchase by New Hampshire Industries, H. Neuman & Company was hard at work refining the processes used in synchronous timing belt pulley manufacturing to better serve customers. New Hampshire Industries has continued this lineage of continuous improvement to be sure to supply you, our customer, with the product that you need, when you need it.
